Curated by Andrew Bolton, the exhibition moves through three parts- The Romantic Mind, Romantic Gothic and Cabinet of Curiosities, Romantic Nationalism, Romantic Exoticism, Romantic Primitivism and lastly, Romantic Naturalism. The latter is a beautiful concept, but in my opinion, is a somewhat redundant title. The beauty of Romanticism is the emphatic love of nature it implies! It is a breathtaking exhibit of the revolutionary McQueen's most exquisite pieces.
There is a coinciding book available by the same name available HERE, thanks to a collaboration by the Costume Institute's curator Andrew Bolton, Curator-in-Charge Harold Koda and Susannah Frankel, Fashion Editor of the Independent.
